Dr. Fola Babalola graduated with PhD (Forest Economics) from University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He was the Head of Department of Forest Resources Management, University of Ilorin, Nigeria (2016 – 2018) and was a recipient of Vice-Chancellor postdoctoral fellowship and appointed Extraordinary Lecturer at the University of Pretoria, South Africa (2012 – 2015). He is also a rated researcher by National Research Foundation (NRF), South Africa.

Dr Babalola specializes in forest socio-economics. Specifically, his research focus on interdependence of forest and people, as well as contributions of forests and forest products to livelihoods of people at grassroots. He has partaken in team research in countries such as Nigeria, Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania, South Africa and Uganda. He has been recipients of various research grants and sponsorship. Dr. Babalola is passionate on activities leading to local empowerment, capacity building and protection of biological diversity. Determination to expand his service at grassroots led to his facilitating the establishment of Save Sahara Network (SSN).
