SSN IN BRIEF

Save Sahara Network (SSN) is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) registered as a corporate body under the Nigerian Companies and Allied Matters Act No. 1 of 1990. The organisation is born out of passion to carry out projects leading to protection, conservation, restoration, rehabilitation and sustainable utilization of biological diversity at the grassroots. The organsation combines its environmental projects with empowerment and capacity building for people at the grassroots. Implementation of the projects is possible through engaging people who are passionate about conservation and protection of natural resources volunteers. 

Furthermore, SSN organises demand driven training and capacity building programme for professionals, as well as creates forum for scientific interactions and discussions on current environmental issues facing people at the grassroots.These activities are to initiate adequate intervention from the research findings of professionals and facilitate environmental solutions from the general public.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

1) To carry out projects leading to protection, restoration, rehabilitation, sustainable use of natural resources as well as empowerment of people at the grassroots.

2) To organize capacity building training and facilitate fora for networking and information sharing among conservation professionals and practitioners.

3) To promote research and funding opportunities leading to protection of natural resources and empowerment of professionals.

4) To create public awareness and advocacy on current environmental issues leading to appropriate intervention.
